This is the ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System). Scheduled to come into force in 2027, this system will apply to travelers from Schengen visa-exempt countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Its aim is to strengthen the security of European borders, while facilitating the movement of travellers. The introduction of ETIAS meets a number of conditions: enhanced entry controls, the fight against illegal immigration and crime, and better management of tourist flows within the Schengen area. <\/p>\n\n<p>Strongly inspired by the American ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization), the European ETIAS authorization is in line with the measures taken to reinforce security in Europe.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ETIAS requirements<\/h2>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Passengers concerned<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nationals of over 60 Schengen visa-exempt countries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tourist, business, medical or transit stays.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Application procedure<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Online form available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/etias-eu.net\/en\/etias-official-website\/\">official ETIAS website<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal information, valid biometric passport, contact details and reason for trip.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Payment of a \u20ac20 launch fee, free for under-18s and over-70s.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Deadlines and validity<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Response usually within minutes (maximum 96 hours).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ETIAS authorization is valid for 3 years, or until the passport expires.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allows multiple entries into the Schengen area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Difference between ETIAS and Schengen visa<\/h2>\n\n<p>The ETIAS is a simple electronic authorization for visa-exempt travelers. The Schengen Visa is a compulsory document for nationals subject to prior authorization.
